
EMERGENCY HEAP
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded energy program intended to provide assistance to low income households. Emergency HEAP is a benefit designed to meet a household’s immediate energy needs. It opened on January 2, 2020 and is expected to conclude on March 16, 2020.
Emergency HEAP benefits and eligibility are based on income, available resources, and the type of emergency. To qualify for this program, the recipient must:
_Be out of fuel or have less than a quarter tank of fuel oil, kerosene, or propane;
_Have less than a ten day supply of wood, wood pellets, corn, or other deliverable fuels; or
_Electric or natural gas heat has been turned off, or have a utility termination notice for shut off.
The electric must be necessary for your heating system or thermostat to work.
