Do you Live in Taghkanic, Copake Hillsdale or Claverack?

Then this event is for you. At 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, "Taghkanic Talks" will give a presentation at the Taghkanic Firehouse on the Taghkanic Headwaters Conservation Plan. The headwaters of the Taghkanic Creek takes in an area that includes large portions of the Towns of Copake, Hillsdale and Taghkanic and a part of Claverack as well. It is an ecologically rich landscape that provides numerous benefits to the natural and human environments. The Conservation Plan identifies and explains the importance of these ecological assets, describes significant threats to those assets and suggests steps that anyone who lives in the area, and the municipalities as well, can take to maintain and improve the health and vitality of the land. These are all matters that as residents, it would be good for us to know about. Development of the Conservation Plan was sponsored by the Columbia Land Conservancy (CLC) and guided by a group of citizen representatives from the four Towns.

Saturday's program will also include a presentation from Troy Weldy, CLC President, on a significant conservation project the organization is planning for the Taghkanic headwaters area, in the Town of Taghkanic - the creation of a 500+ acre community forest.

Come join us at this important and interesting event.
